Inspire Play to Promote Imagination
Mix-it-Up Picks™ are a creative way to make meal time more fun!
For Picky Eaters
At Black Lab, we asked the question -- how can we make the idea of "kids playing with food" beneficial to the kid themselves?
Black Lab Products is known for toys like Spreadheads™ and Toothpaste Heads™, which have made eating and brushing your teeth more enjoyable for kids around the globe.
The solution to the question? Tooth picks that promote meal time for picky eaters, combining the idea of play with the spirit of adventure and roleplay. In testing the product with a group of children, we found that they were more willing to interact with foods they were not fond of before, successfully bridging the gap and helping kids + parents through playfulness.

Ever heard of a kid liking a napkin?
Use Me, Not your Shirt!
Similar to Mix-It-Up Picks™, Napkin Heads™ are a way to add fun to meal time for kids who are messier when they eat.
By creating these characters, Mr. Spot, Mr. Messy, "The Cleaner", etc, humor is the vehicle that instantly increases playfulness in a product often seen in just plain colors. Each character has a personality, and with Black Lab Products, the idea of role play and imagination is something we try to foster through every thing we make.
Friend Chips™ are collectable mementos for trading amongst friends, sending love to each other through optimistic and encouraging messages.
With 16 designs total, Friend Chips are a natural evolution of friendship bracelets and trading cards (Pogs, anyone?). Each design is crafted in a way where art featured aligns with four vibes of friendship -- Groovy, Rad, Wacky, and Cool.
Education-Driven
Our marketing campaign for this line involved contacting schools all across the US, giving participating teachers product to use as positive motivation for their classrooms.
Because all Friend Chips are designed with upbeat and encouraging messages, it is the perfect vehicle for kids to be affirmed when they do great things. When kids inevitably trade them amongst each other, this creates a positive loop!
